I've been exposed to coaching from a fairly young age on when my mum, lifelong idol of mine, started her studies. Almost ironically though, and like most professionals, I paddled through the first decade of my career without a single session, until a great former boss signed me up for one. The impact of that one-hour session was immediate and dramatic. So much so that I immediately signed up for more, and saw my career trajectory radically change.

 

Suddenly, I found myself championing access for everyone at my previous place of work. Joining forces with some of my incredible colleagues (some of whom are today a foundational part of Squared Coaching) , we pushed for more programs across the board. And it got me thinking - if we could do it for a tech giant company with over 70,000 employees, why not everywhere?

Even today, individuals in Fortune 500 companies don't fully understand its value. But their managers do. And their managers, and the executives, and professional athletes, and Hollywood stars, and entrepreneurs, and even political and human rights legends do. You get the point. Coaching is an incredible resource, that everyone should have access to earlier in their careers.

But, sadly, so few people have access to this professional superpower. Sometimes because lack of knowledge (you can't want what you can't imagine), lack of understanding (Is it therapy, is it Mentorship?), or the money talk (is it worth the investment?).
